Noosa is leading the charge to be Australia’s first Plastic Free community.

Places where people want to visit and live and that are sustainable don’t happen by chance - they are a product of visionary thinking and smart planning, and this community program highlights Noosa’s commitment to reducing single-use plastic. Plastic Free Noosa aims to help local businesses, residents and visitors to Noosa easily eliminate single-use plastics from their everyday life.

Plastic Free Noosa is an initiative of Tourism Noosa, proudly supported by Noosa Council.

#choosetoreuse is Noosa's campaign to reduce single-use coffee cups. Making the switch doesn't have to be complicated or costly. Plastic Free Noosa is committed to working with business owners of every size on ways to make reusables easy for your customers, and will continue to campaign for the community and visitors to embrace re-use culture as the norm here in Noosa.

Volunteer with Plastic Free Noosa

Precious Plastic Noosa

Precious Plastic Noosa is a transformative approach to recycling, empowering our community to repurpose plastic bottle caps into new products.

The pilot project involves a partnership with Tourism Noosa’s Plastic Free Noosa Program and Sunshine Beach State High School, with the initiative aiming to embed circular economy principles into education & community practice. Visitors will get the chance to learn about the program and take a 'Made in Noosa' recycled plastic keepsake home with them after their stay.

Waste Warrior Diaries

As a first-time Waste Warrior volunteer, the abundance of positivity and knowledge at the Noosa Festival of Surfing gave me a strong sense of hope and community. It sounds cliche, I know, but I’m sure those who have also worked or volunteered hands on with environmental conservation and sustainability will know the feeling.
